Private full day tour from Avignon
9.00 AM to 5.30 PM
Our first destination will be Le Barroux, known for its 16th century castle at the foot of Mont Ventoux, then we will pass by one of the most beautiful wine route of the Rhone Valley.
We will pass through the villages of La Roque Alric, Lafare and Beaumes de Venise.
Grand Cru of Gigondas and Vacqueyras
The three main varieties of their area are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.
Grenache brings fruit and power
The Syrah grape structured and liquorice
The Mourvèdre for its spiciness
For white wines, we find Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc, and freshly planted Viognier and Grenache Blanc.
Low yields on clay-limestone soils give our wines strength and balance.
Casual lunch at "La Verriere", La Verrière is a restored medieval priory in Crestet, at the southern border of Gigondas in the region of Provence, France.
This wine estate is amazing.
A visit of the winery and a wine tasting before your lunch.
You will taste Chêne Bleu Rhone wines , all made from organic traditional Rhone varietals.
Afternoon, let me take you to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a medieval village on the side of a hill, guarded by the ruins of an ancient chateau towering above.
A literal translation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, "the Pope’s new house", is actually true.
In the 14th century, during their stays in Avignon, the popes – and especially Pope John XXII – built a papal castle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Impressed by the area’s exceptional soils, they established vineyards on the slopes surrounding the château and were instrumental in promoting the local wine’s reputation around the world.
From the chateau hill you have an outstanding view in all directions, mostly of vineyards, of course.
Off to the east and south, the Rhône winds across the fields, and the afternoon sun turns it silver.
Visit of the cellar and wine tasting in Domaine de Beaurenard
Domaine de Beaurenard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape has been a family-run estate for seven generations.
A notarial act dated 16 December 1695 mentions “Bois Renard”, which over time has become “Beaurenard”.
