Full Day Chauffeured Wine & Culture Tour

This full day chauffeured tour offers you a complete Provençal experience - a Wine Uncovered half-day tour guided by Olivier Hickman and a half-day sightseeing and culture tour with me, Wine Uncovered’s chauffeured tour partner.

The wine & sightseeing tours can be done in the morning or the afternoon.

You will be picked up from your residence by me who will chauffeur you throughout the day in my luxury air-con minibus. The sightseeing and culture section of the day could comprise of any of the following (depending on travel distance from your residence) :

Tasting wines from two leading Wine Domaines in the Southern Rhône Cru wine of Gigondas or Cru wine of Châteauneuf du Pape, you will :

  Visit stunning vineyards to appreciate the concept of "terroir" and its importance to French wines
  Understand how growers work their vines to produce the best possible grapes
  Appreciate the differences between the Rhône grape varieties.
  Visit winemaking cellars and learn the essentials of winemaking.
  Taste some of the finest wines from the Southern Rhône.

Wine Uncovered guided wine visits cater for all wine-drinkers, from those who know very little about wine to enthusiasts seeking to broaden their understanding.

Your guide, Olivier Hickman is a qualified wine professional : a wine importer, a winemaker, a vine-grower and a wine journalist. Olivier is a leading expert on the wines of the Southern Rhône and in particular, how vineyard “terroir” influences the wines that you taste.

Selection of sightseeing tours :

Luberon : the famous “Year in Provence” countryside between the stunning hill perched village of Gordes and the Red Ochre hills of Roussillon with a stop at the Abbaye de Sénanque, a 12th century Cistercian.

Mont Ventoux : the "Giant of Provence" and its picturesque villages

Lavender tour (mid June to early August) : See the purple fields that are synonymous with Provence. Saint Rémy de Provence : On the trail of Van Gogh through the Les Baux mountains

Roman monuments : The impressive Pont du Gard in Nimes, the amphitheatre in Orange and the ancient city remains in Vaison-la-Romaine.

Provencal markets : Vaison-la-Romaine, Orange, Isle sur la Sorgue (antiques), Carpentras.

I will be happy to accommodate any of your recommendations or ideas subject to travelling time.

PRICES

Includes pick up & return within the Vaucluse area of Provence, tasting and guide fees. Excludes cost of lunch and any monument entrance fees. Pick-up from your residence at 9.00 am. Return to your residence at 6.30 pm.

Minimum 2 people for Gigondas Wine Tour
Minimum 4 people for Châteauneuf du Pape Wine Tour

Lunch I can recommend and book lunch for you at a local restaurant/bistro.

The cost of lunch is excluded from the tour fees stated above.
