This is the region where the 14th and 15th century Jewish communities were protected, benefiting from the presence of the Popes in Avignon, who granted them freedom to worship and live when they were banished from the Kingdom of France.

Carpentras

-  The synagogue, built in 1367, one of the oldest in France. Open from Monday to Friday (4 pm). Closed during Jewish holidays.
